Chelsea is considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as part of their summer midfield strengthening strategy

The 23-year-old was the subject of an initial €60 million offer from the Blues that Los Blancos reportedly turned down.

Chelsea is prepared to counter with a higher bid of €80 million for the France international, though. Tchouameni was a target for Chelsea before he transferred from Monaco to Real Madrid, and they continued to be interested in signing him.

Due to Tchouameni’s inconsistency this year, Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has favoured Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Federico Valverde in the midfield. Even if Madrid is aware of the player’s abilities, they will take Chelsea’s greater offer into account when it comes.

The cub is aware that the first season with a team isn’t usually the easiest because it can take players some time to get used to their new surroundings. To complement Enzo Fernandez at the base of their midfield, Chelsea is ready to add a strong defensive midfielder. Prior to the 2019–2020 season, incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is pressing the Blues to sign one or two holding midfielders. Tchouameni might be a good alternative, despite their interest in Moises Caicedo, Manuel Ugarte, and Romeo Lavia.

Caicedo’s outstanding achievements throughout the previous season had Brighton & Hove Albion demanding £100 million for him. Lavia might not be nearly ready to play for a team vying for Champions League football, while Ugarte appears destined to join Paris Saint-Germain. On that basis, a move for Tchouameni makes sense, though Madrid will probably demand a higher price from Chelsea to approve the sale of the player.
