Chelsea 'Got Away With A Result' Against Valencia - Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard admitted his side was lucky to come away with a point against Valencia on Wednesday.

The Champions League clash between the two sides ended 2-2 at the Mestalla.

Valencia missed a string of good scoring opportunities as Kepa Arrizibalaga kept out Danny Parejo’s penalty as well. Carlos Soler broke the deadlock in the 40th minute but Chelsea immediately responded with goals in quick succession from Matteo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic.

The Blues had chances to kill off the game too but alas, Daniel Wass’ cross-cum-shot was too hard to manage for Kepa as it struck the far post and then the back of the net.

Lampard said after the game, “Did I love the match? No I didn’t love it. Because it hasn’t been many times this season where I have had to say ‘we kind of got away with that.’ This was one of those because they missed big opportunities.

“It was a very unusual match because of the amount of good opportunities for both teams. We have to be happy with the draw because we gave away too many opportunities.

“Valencia are a good team and we should be better defensively than we were today. I am happy with the result, it was a really tough match.”
