Chelsea captain takes full responsibility for his “silly mistakes” in Newcastle game

Reece James also picked up a red after receiving two yellow cards.

Chelsea suffered a heavy defeat to Newcastle last weekend. The Blues captain takes full responsibility for his “silly mistakes” at St James Park.

It was a tough day for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The North London club were hammered by Newcastle 4-1.

Eddie Howe faced injury and it somehow gave more headaches to Chelsea. With regular defeats, Chelsea will struggle to make the European spots in the Premier League this season.

Reece James also picked up a red after receiving two yellow cards and the full-back has taken full responsibility for his “silly mistakes”.

“I take full responsibility for my red card, two silly mistakes,” the Chelsea captain said via Fabrizio Romano.

“Another lesson for me to learn, I apologise to fans and teammates.

“The performance was far below our standards but this game does not define us! We’ve made huge improvements against many top teams.”

Chelsea are now sitting at 10th in the table and they will take on Brighton in the next weekend clash.
