Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah are expected to part ways in January.
The 24-year-old Chelsea academy graduate is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and won’t be available for the next weeks.
He has fallen further down the pecking order at Chelsea after the arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco this summer.
He has struggled to get minutes under the management of Mauricio Pochettino and would force a move away from Stamford Bridge this winter.
According to several reports, Serie A giants Roma have shown their interest in the academy graduate.
They are in the market for a centre-back heading into the January transfer window and have set their eyes on outcast Trevoh Chalobah.
Chalobah’s stock has fallen since the departure of Thomas Tuchel and he sporadically featured in the Chelsea lineup last term.
Chris Smalling is nearing the end of his twilight career and AS Roma are interested in a new centre-back this January.
But the Italian side will face competition from Bayern Munich who are also considering a January bid for the English defender.
It would give him the opportunity to reunite with former manager Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.
