According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is eager to have Gary Cahill at the club. The 2018/19 season was Cahill’s last for Chelsea and he is yet to find a new destination.
Cahill was a regular for Chelsea under Antonio Conte and captained Chelsea to the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.
Cahill fell down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri who preferred David Luiz. Thus, the dentre-back will leave the club.
Antonio Conte joined Inter Milan a few weeks back following the sacking of Luciano Spalletti. Conte wants to bring in Cahill to the San Siro to bolster Inter’s backline. The Nerazzurri conceded only 33 Serie A goals last season and Conte believes adding Cahill will deepen Inter’s defence.
Inter Milan already have two solid centre-backs in Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar and also have the experienced Miranda. The addition of an experienced defender like Cahill can sure help Inter as he is well acquainted with Conte’s footballing philosophy.
However, Cahill would find it very difficult to break into the playing XI.
