Speaking to Sky Sports News, Bridge said: ‘Some say it’s been successful but it’s been very up and down. ‘They’ve been very inconsistent and consistency is what you want of a big team. That’s what’s going to win you the Premier League. I don’t really know where he [Sarri] stands. I’m very surprised that he’s still there. ‘They are third [in the Premier League] and they are in a final [the Europa League] but as an ex-player and a Chelsea fan, they would like to see them higher up in the table. ‘I know it’s third but they want to see them competing [for the Premier League title].’
When Sarri himself was asked about his future last week, the Italian seemed to play coy.
‘I think so, but I am not sure. ‘As you know very well, I love English football. I love the Premier League; it’s fantastic and the level is the best in the world, I think. The atmosphere in the stadiums is wonderful. I would like very much to stay here.’
