Newcastle joins the race for Chelsea striker Timo Werner

Werner scored just six times during his time at Stamford Bridge.

According to BILD, Newcastle under new ownership, are looking to reinforce their squad and have identified Werner as a potential target for the January transfer window. Timo Werner was signed by Chelsea last year for £48m but the 25-year-old player failed to deliver his best since his arrival from Germany.

Werner scored just six times during his time at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea fans were disappointed after seeing former Leipzig striker failing at English top-flight.

Just before the season 2021-22, Chelsea made a big move by signing Romelu Lukaku for a club-record £97.5m this summer. Newcastle are optimistic to bring Werner to St James Park. Earlier, Juventus also showed interest in him.
