Football is tipped to resume soon following the coronavirus pandemic and players are training behind closed doors and nursing their injuries from the season.
A break from the demanding schedule will surely increase the speed of recovery and Lampard believes Kante is ready to make a strong comeback. The Frenchman has become an integral part of Chelsea, no matter who the manager is. However, his season has been blighted by injuries, forcing him to miss a significant amount of games.
“I think N’Golo Kante is a great example. Obviously he played four or five incredible seasons in succession,” Lampard told BT Sport. “He’s been used quite rightly by his managers a lot. But this season he has only about 40 percent of our game and even then I have felt for him. I have really felt for him. He’s been a huge miss for us but looking forward, whenever a restart comes, we want to get him in the best shape.”
In absence of Kante, Billy Gilmour has enjoyed some playing time and broken out as a star at Stamford Bridge. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also due to make a comeback after missing a long period with an Achilles injury. Lampard will finally be able to test out all of his midfield options and pick his best men going forward.
