Dutch attacking midfielder Xavi Simons is actively pushing for a transfer to Chelsea from RB Leipzig, applying significant pressure on the German club to sanction his departure.

Xavi Simons Demands Chelsea Transfer as Blues Await Player Sales

The 22-year-old has made his desire to join the Premier League side abundantly clear as the summer transfer window approaches its deadline.

Chelsea has held extended talks with Leipzig, and a verbal agreement is reportedly in place for Simons’ transfer.

However, the deal’s completion hinges on the Blues first offloading several current players to free up both squad space and necessary funds.

The club requires significant sales to balance their finances after a busy window that has already seen arrivals like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Jorrel Hato.

Simons’ determination to secure the move has been unmistakable. He recently removed all references to RB Leipzig from his social media profiles and was seen interacting with a Chelsea post announcing Hato’s signing.

This follows a weekend where he played in Leipzig’s humbling 6-0 defeat to Bayern Munich, a match that many expect was his final appearance for the club.

The potential transfer fee is believed to be in the region of £60 million. Chelsea is prioritizing the sales of attackers Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson to help finance the move for Simons and another target, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.

While Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, has publicly stated that Simons remains their player, he admitted that “everyone knows about his ambitions” and cannot guarantee he will stay, acknowledging that “the market is still open”.

With Simons waiting and Chelsea working to finalize outgoings, this transfer saga is poised for a dramatic conclusion before the September 1st deadline.
