Barcelona head Xavi in talks with Chelsea defender Azpilicueta

Azpilicueta contract will expire in the summer and he is supposed to leave the club.

Barcelona coach Xavi has held talks with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta. The Blues defender is heavily linked with Catalan giants for a summer move.

The Spanish club is monitoring the process. The owner Roman Abramovich has been punished and Barca is finding the process bit easier for the future of Azpilicueta.

Azpi’s contract will expire in the summer and he is supposed to leave the club. He has a clause in his deal about reaching a certain number of games – which he hasn’t yet – and that can only be activated if both club and player agree.

Barcelona head Xavi has a special interest in the Spaniard. He played with Chelsea veteran in the Spain team in the 2013 Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup.

Xavi values Azpi’s versatility and professionalism and thinks he can be a model for youngsters to follow.
