Wout Faes has no regrets about rejecting Chelsea in the past
Wout Faes, a Leicester City defender, had no remorse about turning down a Chelsea offer while he was in his twenties while playing for Anderlecht.
Faes joined Leicester City from Stade Reims on the last day of the summer transfer window. He has appeared in three games for the Foxes so far and has looked good despite the team’s poor record.
The 24-year-old has a hairdo similar to former Chelsea defender David Luiz. After witnessing him play for the Belgium U17s in a competition in Scotland, the Blues gave him an autographed shirt from Luiz and made an offer for him.
Faes is a popular figure in the Leicester dressing room barely a month after joining the club. He has evolved into an attack-minded center-back who is fearless on the ball and prefers to go on the offensive when confronted by opposing strikers.
To be fair to him, rejecting Chelsea despite knowing the financial benefits is a brave choice. Furthermore, the Blues have one of the greatest academies in the world, consistently developing outstanding new prospects. As a result, he may have passed on a chance.
The Belgian international possesses the qualities necessary to succeed in England. To assist his squad and boost his status among the best teams in the league, he has to build on a strong start at Leicester.
Chelsea now has enough talent at the back to give the 24-year-old another chance. However, we have no idea what will happen in the future.
