Chelsea Football Club has decided to allow young winger Tyrique George to leave the club in the January transfer window, according to sources close to the situation.

Tyrique George Likely to Leave Chelsea in January, Says Report

The 19-year-old academy graduate is now expected to seek a new club to secure the regular first-team football crucial for his development.

The upcoming move comes after a summer of strong transfer interest. George came very close to a Deadline Day switch to fellow Premier League side Fulham, but the deal unexpectedly collapsed in the final hours.

He had also attracted attention from other clubs, including Crystal Palace and several sides competing in the Champions League and Europa League.

With Chelsea possessing plentiful options in the wide attacking positions, George has found minutes hard to come by.

The club’s squad includes high-profile names like Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, Jamie Gittens, and new hero Estevao Willian, creating intense competition for a single spot.

This season, George has been restricted to limited appearances off the bench, starting just one Premier League game under manager Enzo Maresca.

Despite Maresca praising his contributions and keeping him involved with the senior group after the summer disappointment, the pathway to regular football at Stamford Bridge remains blocked.

A January departure appears to be a practical solution for all involved.

For Chelsea, the sale of an academy product like George represents pure profit on the club’s financial books, aiding their compliance with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

For the player himself, a move away offers the only clear route to the consistent playing time a 19-year-old needs to continue his development and realise his obvious potential.

The coming months will be crucial in determining where the promising winger will continue his career.
