Chelsea planning to sell one player to Al Nassr this month

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has expressed concerns over Jadon Sancho’s recent performances, particularly following Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Gallas highlighted Sancho’s lack of impact during the match, suggesting that Chelsea should reconsider making his loan move from Manchester United permanent.

Sancho, who joined Chelsea on loan last summer, initially impressed with three assists in his first three appearances.

However, his form has since declined, with only one goal contribution—a solitary assist against Crystal Palace on January 4—since the start of the year.

In the recent fixture against Arsenal, Sancho struggled to influence the game, failing to challenge the opposition’s defense effectively.

Gallas, speaking on Stadium Astro, commented on Sancho’s performance: “Did you see him dribble past his left-back today? No. He did nothing.

He didn’t challenge his left-back opponent. He always gets the ball, does some skills, and then passes the ball back.

We want to see more, especially when you are the winger.”

The loan agreement between Chelsea and Manchester United includes an obligation for Chelsea to purchase Sancho permanently if they finish 14th or higher in the Premier League, with the fee ranging between £22 million and £25 million.

However, recent reports suggest that Chelsea might explore options to back out of this agreement, potentially incurring a significant financial penalty.

This development raises questions about Sancho’s future at Stamford Bridge and whether he might return to Manchester United.

Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, acknowledged the team’s offensive struggles, attributing them partly to injuries to key players like Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke.

He expressed hope that their return would bolster the team’s attacking prowess after the international break.

Maresca stated: “It’s a huge difference if you think of the three players with most goals for us are Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke.

Not one of them was on the pitch today. For two of them, they have already been out a long time, so it is normal that offensively we struggle a little bit.”

As the season progresses, Chelsea faces a critical decision regarding Sancho’s future.

The club must weigh his early promise against his recent dip in form, considering both the financial implications and the team’s long-term strategic goals.

Gallas’s candid assessment underscores the urgency for Chelsea to evaluate Sancho’s role and potential contributions moving forward.
