Why Chelsea needed Pedro against Liverpool

Pedro’s effort in beating Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup match fixture on Tuesday night with 2-0 was much appreciated by the Blues manager Frank Lampard.

And rightly so. Pedro hasn’t really had much game time this season. However, last night, he bounced back into a much better form than before when he was very active on the pitch and saw Willian and Ross Barkley each score a goal against the Reds.

He had just started 12 games this season across all competitions for Chelsea, which is a terrible number. However, Pedro made his 200th appearance in this match and Lampard agreed that he could be an important addition for the late part of the season.

We agree that his performance has definitely shot up much more than before. He was bursting with energy on the pitch and so much so, that he managed to catch Frank Lampard’s eye – who was certainly impressed. Where most of the Liverpool players were pumped up, Pedro managed to scale up the vigour for the entire Blues team.

“I agree he was outstanding in work ethic and players look up to him for what he has done. Always a goal threat,” the Chelsea head coach told a news conference.

“Parts of the season have been difficult. He was in the team at the start, got injured and then got out of the team, but what he has shown, particularly in recent weeks, is a real desire in training, to look sharp, to be giving advice and giving the place a lift with his body language.

“He can be one of our most important players until the end of the season. He is an infectious player.”

To all Pedro fans, get ready to see more of his action soon in the Everton match on Sunday – hopefully!
