Why Atletico Boss Is Not Taken Aback With Chelsea Links To Jan Oblak

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is somehow not surprised with goalkeeper Jan Oblak being linked with Chelsea.

However, Simeone does hope that come what may, the goalkeeper will want to stay back at Atletico. For Chelsea, a goalkeeper to replace Kepa is in speculation. Kepa has come under fire lately and for the price Chelsea paid for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, he hasn’t been living up to expectations.

Simeone said: “I am not very surprised because every year at the end of the season all our most important players are under the radar of the most important teams of the world.

“I think it is normal they are always looking for the best players as we have many in our team.

“In previous seasons, some players left the club and others remained, but I think it is logical a player like Oblak is wanted by many teams.

“He is our captain and a very important player in the last few years. I hope he can continue with us because he is very important for Atletico Madrid.”

Chris Sutton has further spoken about how Kepa Arrizabalaga is somewhat a liability for Frank Lampard, which makes Jan Oblak’s transfer speculation more possible.

“I think the goalkeeper is a massive issue and defensively they’ve conceded two many goals. Frank will know that but there’s no point worrying about that at this moment in time,” he told Stadium Astro.

“Get over the line, get a Champions League spot, you know the riches which come from the Champions League and the finance which comes with that, and then he can address all these issues once the season finishes.
