Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has revealed how Morata feels about his move to Chelsea.
“[Morata] wants to leave Chelsea. He feels that it hasn’t been the right club for him,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast. “Sarri mentioning his mental state, saying that he needs the comfort of a coach and the confidence to grow, all those are traits that he’s been lacking in the past.
“So he needs to be completely comfortable and happy in this situation, and he hasn’t been clearly at Chelsea, the style doesn’t suit him. So yes, he will go back [to Spain]. He said yes to Sevilla in terms of personal agreement, but then 24 hours later Atletico Madrid says they’re interested in you, you’re going to say yes as well.
“Nothing’s signed, and my doubt will be if Chelsea will let him go on loan because that’s the only situation in which both these clubs, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, will have him. That means they’ll have to pay for at least half of his nine million euros a year wages until the end of the season.”
Morata has scored 24 goals in 72 games but has come to criticism for his inconsistency and tendency to go missing in big moments.
