Arsene Wenger has broken down the details on exactly how Chelsea lost to Bayern Munich in UCL round of 16 on Tuesday night.
The former Gunners boss recently hailed Frank Lampard for being a big mentality coach but has now pointed out the novice ot tactical acumen in Frank’s game.
Wenger has never won the CL but has masterminded many classic wins over his oppositions in tough matches over many years.
Chelsea lost to Bayern by 3 goals to nil at home and Wenger has now pointed to the weakness of the midfield to dominate the match for the Blues.
Speaking on beIN Sports as a pundit, Wenger stated: “You don’t lose five home games if your team is superior to every other team.
“At that level, to give possession away, you’re punished at some stage because they make you run too much, and you cannot survive for 90 minutes.
“In the Champions League, if you lose the midfield battle you’re in trouble, it’s rule number one.
“Because you play against good teams, if they can feed the strikers you, at some stage, will pay for it.”
Chelsea will play the second leg but have little or no hope for progressing to the next round.
