After three Premier League games, Chelsea’s record under Enzo Maresca is one victory, one draw, and one loss. The Blues trounced Wolves 6-2 at Stamford Bridge, capping a disappointing 2-0 loss to champions Manchester City. Following their 1-1 tie with Crystal Palace prior to the international break, they finished the table in 11th place.
Rumours of moves kept Chukwuemeka and Casadei at the club, while certain players like Raheem Sterling managed to obtain transfers before the window closed. After being expelled from first-team training as members of the ‘bomb squad,’ the two players have now been given another opportunity and are back in Chelsea’s starting lineup.
Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei last chance
The Athletic claims that although Chukwuemeka and Casadei are being considered for sales, neither will be sold since Maresca still has plans for them. This is in spite of the transfer activity that is taking place in other European countries. If he is unable to find a new club, Chelsea will offer him another opportunity to establish himself as a member of the Chelsea first squad.
The team wants to give Ben Jacobs a chance because he’s a low-paid player with a high ceiling. Loan consideration will begin next year, unless he can convince them otherwise and outperform his expensively assembled frontline rivals.
Reports claim that a £40 million release clause remains in effect in his contract, and Chelsea was originally opposed to allowing him to go temporarily.
