Tuchel Hails His Goalkeeper for Penalty Shootout Performance in Carabao Cup

The Spanish goalkeeper made good saves in the Carabao Cup victory for the Blues.

Chelsea manager is happy with the nail-biting victory against Aston Villa in Carabao Cup third round. He was impressed with the impact of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who held the nerves for Chelsea in a penalty shootout.

Chelsea fought hard to break into the fourth round. Both teams finished at 1-1 after full time and the result decided on a penalty shootout. Tuchel made changes to the squads and the team performed really well against Villa. The Spanish goalkeeper made good saves for the Blues to seal the game.

Asked about the performance of Arrizabalaga in post-game, Tuchel said, “Kepa is very strong at penalties. He has good experiences in shoot-outs so we focused on that, and tried our best.

He also added on victory, “I’m happy the players kept their cool. It’s a nice win and I’m happy because it was a tough match, a hard cup fight, and it’s a good feeling to win.”

Chelsea is having a dream phase under Tuchel. They won Champions League this year. They stand first after 5 matches in Premier League and reached into the fourth round of the EFL Cup. Blues will now face Southampton in the fourth round of this tournament.
