Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admits top-two finish appears out of reach

Tuchel’s side is 7 points behind Liverpool after 25 games and 13 points behind City.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel feels they are out of the top two finish in Premier League 2021/22. He was talking after a crucial win over Crystal Palace last night.

Chelsea were almost dropping points at Selhurst Park but Ziyech’s 89th-minute strike saved them.

Tuchel talked about catching Liverpool in the points table: “Unfortunately we don’t play them again. They look very strong at the moment. It is what it is and they got a huge player in the winter to make their squad even stronger.

“We will not give in, I will not tell you today that it is impossible to catch them, but there’s no other way than to improve our game, to improve our style and to win game after game after game, to start winning in consecutive games.

“There’s no need to look to Liverpool or Man City or look behind, we have enough to deal with, we have enough to improve and that’s where we start from.”

Chelsea are 7 points behind Liverpool after 25 games and 13 points behind City. They are 7 points ahead of United so Tuchel’s side can finish third this season. The fight is now standing between City and Liverpool for the title.
