“I think we started not sharp enough,” Tuchel admits to BT Sport.

Thomas Tuchel admits the struggle of Chelsea in their 1-0 loss away at Juventus on Wednesday night. Defending champions suffered their first group stage defeat in two years in Champions League. The Blues also lost to Man City in Premier League on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel’s side was dealt a further blow for the trip to Turin as Reece James and Mason Mount were absent due to injury. Their star player N’Golo Kante was also ruled out following a positive covid test.

European champions struggled on Wednesday night. Blues dominated proceedings and possession, but they failed to convert their chances into goals.

“I think we started not sharp enough,” Tuchel admits to BT Sport.

”The first 12 to 15 minutes we could have harmed them much more. There was so much space for dangerous balls into the box and ask more questions. We struggled to create our own rhythm and intensity because they were so deep and passive. We were lacking runs. We were so good in training yesterday and not good enough, not free enough today. I don’t know why,” he also added.

Chelsea’s next game will be played against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Blues would look to take the top spot back in standings at Premier League 2021-22.
