According to rumors, Tottenham is prepared to extend a loan bid to Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku before the summer transfer window opens. Spurs’ 4-1 loss to Brighton at home on Sunday condemned them to a 17th-place finish in the Premier League, capping a terrible season.
Despite their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final, Ange Postecoglou will now face a lot of criticism throughout the summer, with some rumors claiming that his future is still uncertain. After defeating the Red Devils to earn a spot in the Champions League, Tottenham’s management is now preparing for the upcoming campaign with an increased budget.
Even though Tottenham has scored more goals this season than just seven other Premier League teams, a forward is near the top of their list. Additionally, Nkunku, a forward for Chelsea who is virtually assured to leave before the end of the summer, is reportedly of interest to Tottenham, according to the Spanish website Fichajes.
Tottenham plan shocking, attractive bid for Chelsea forward
In addition to continental powerhouses Bayern Munich and Juventus, a number of Premier League teams have been suggested as potential bidders. Although there’s a good chance they may have to sell at a loss, Chelsea is aiming to recover the majority of the money they spent on Nkunku.
In order to strengthen their numbers in the final third, Tottenham is now interested in Nkunku and intends to investigate a transfer for the attacker. Similar to their agreement for Mathys Tel, Spurs are apparently willing to give a loan move with a buyout option for about €45 million.
Despite their recent close call with starting negotiations for Conor Gallagher, Tottenham and Chelsea do not regularly engage on the business side of things. There haven’t been many transactions between the two London titans, but the Nkunku issue may change that.
Since Chelsea wants to use the proceeds to acquire new players who are qualified for their Champions League campaign, they may wish to sell altogether. Tottenham needs to present Chelsea with attractive terms that will ultimately work for them, which might facilitate this trade. Nkunku will have to make any decisions, though, and if the perfect offer comes up, he might think about leaving England entirely.
