Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy injured six days before the Champions League final.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is sweating over the fitness of first-team goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

He was forced off at half-time during Chelsea’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Villa Park but still managed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The Blues prepare to travel to Portugal to claim their second Champions League trophy on May 29.

Mendy arrived from Rennes in the summer for £22m and kept 16 clean sheets in his debut Premier League season.

He told Chelseafc.com: “He fell on the frame of the net. He has big pain in his ribs. We need to wait until we get home, and we will do some images.”

“Tomorrow, we will have an update on what’s going on. We have a week to prepare, and we will see if it’s possible. If it’s possible, we need to push and do everything so he is in goal on Saturday.”
