Thomas Tuchel Blames Pitch Partially For Leeds United Draw

Thomas Tuchel did not leave Elland Road without making a comment about the pitch conditions.

Chelsea drew 0-0 against the Peacocks and Tuchel attributed the dropped points to the patchy surface.

“We have to keep on working hard, be more clinical and play more precisely in the opponent’s box,” he said.

“It was not so nice to play and the pitch isn’t in a good condition. It was very bouncy, very slippery. Was it a factor? You can never be sure.

“Also our timing in the last 20 metres and our position and composure needs to be more clinical. We’ve had that subject in many games.”

He added: “In general, I’m happy. Maybe for the spectators on TV, it’s not so clear, but on a pitch like this, against a team like Leeds, who put a lot of pressure on you all of the time, we escaped many times out of the pressure in a very fluid style.”

Chelsea came close to scoring but were mostly lacking in the final third. They did make the jump to the top four but West Ham United are trailing by just two points and have two games at hand.
