Thiago Silva’s move to Chelsea is inching closer after the Brazilian defender passed his Blues medical on Thursday.

The Brazilian defender is on the verge of completing a move to the Stamford Bridge after he played his final game in a PSG shirt in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

According to reports, the veteran underwent and passed his medical in Milan and will fly to London soon to sign the contract.

Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the 35-year-old’s exit on Thursday despite trying to tie the veteran to a new contract.

Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said: “Thiago (Silva), thank you for eight years of unforgettable memories, leadership and commitment.

“You are one of the greats and your legendary status at PSG will live forever.

“My very best wishes to you and your family for your new adventures, you will always be part of our family and our history, Merci Captain.”

The 35-year old will be Chelsea’s third major signing in defence, after they completed the signing of left-back Ben Chilwell and centre-back Malang Sarr in the last 2-3 days.

The Blues have been very busy this transfer window and are going all in to tighten up their leaky defence next season.

Chelsea also appear to be edging closer to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz who is considered as one of the best young talents in the world right now.
