Former England defender Rio Ferdinand has given a huge compliment to the young Blues striker.
Tammy Abraham has been in good form this season. He has scored 8 goals this season (all competitions). He was once again on the score sheet after scoring against Lille in UCL fixture.
Rio Ferdinand sees shades of former Blues superstar Didier Drogba in Tammy. He believes that the striker is progressing very well.
Rio told BT Sports, “I saw elements in Tammy’s game that I haven’t seen as much as I would have liked to before.”
“His hold-up play, coming to the ball, bringing others into play. There were some balls that came into him that were Didier Drogba-esque.”
“I think he’s developing nicely, he’s scoring goals, he’s scoring different types of goals and I think he’s a threat.
“This touch here (for his goal), when this ball comes to him, it’s a magnificent touch because it’s not the perfect ball. He adjusts his feet beautifully and the finish, the calmness to do it like that.”
The 22-year-old striker has scored 7 goals in Premier League, including a hattrick. Rio says that the youngster is integrating different elements into his game along the way and that’s why he is improving fast.
Tammy has been the main striker for Stamford Bridge side this season. And how Chelsea will fare this season will depend a lot on his form.
