Slow Start Against Everton Cost Us - Ben Chilwell

Ben Chilwell has admitted that slow start against Everton ended up costing Chelsea.

Frank Lampard’s men went home at the back of a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

In-form striker, Dominic Calvert-Lewin won a penalty for his side which Gylfi Sigurdsson converted from the spot. Edouard Mendy made a costly error, stepping out of his line and clamouring into the Toffees forward but Chilwell blamed the entire team for last night’s loss.

Chilwell remarked, “It was in the first 30 minutes of the game we lost the game. We knew we had to come out sharp and match their physicality but we didn’t do that.

“Me and Reece struggled to get into the game, their runners were good at tracking us, the fans were behind them and the longer the game went on we knew it was going to be difficult to score.

“We try not to listen to any of that [title contenders]. We have a young squad, we are still a relatively new group. The reality is we won’t win every match and now it is how we react to it.”

Chelsea now sit third in the table with games against Wolves, West Ham and Arsenal next.
