Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has told Chelsea to sign Christian Eriksen.
“The one that spring to mind, not that Chelsea are going to go for him, is Christian Eriksen,” Warnock said on Sky Sports News.
“Out of contract in the summer and you’re thinking ‘Can we get him at a knockdown price?’.
“Or do you risk going against other clubs in the summer and competing against five or six other clubs?
“They’re the situations that you have to weigh up as a manager.”
Chelsea boss Lampard himself insisted earlier last week week that the clubs needs the right profile of players.
“We have to get recruitment right, that will be a huge deal,” Lampard said.
“Not just who the individuals are that come in, but can they help influence the way we play and the way we want to play?
“We are certainly joined up in terms that I have very close conversations with Marina [Granovskaia, Chelsea director] very close conversations with Petr Cech [technical and performance advisor] and Scott [McLachlan] who is the head of our recruitment department.
“They know what I want and I will be fundamentally in the middle of who and what we bring into the club. As it stands we are very open about that.
“I know we haven’t done anything yet, so there is no proof in that.
“But if it feels right from my side on the footballing point in January, and from the club side in January, then we will make the moves we make. It is a joint up effort.”
Listening to Lampard’s words, it is clear he wants a quality player at least rather than more young players. This is what makes the Eriksen signing an even bigger possibility and something the Blues can hugely gain from.
