Giroud
Sarri has said that he will rotate between Giroud and Morata

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he will rotate between Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata this season. Giroud got his first start of the season against Cardiff City on Saturday.

A hat-trick from Eden Hazard and a goal from Willian gave Chelsea a 4-1 win over Neil Warnock’s side. The win also took them to first place in the Premier League table, pushing Liverpool to 2nd.

Alvaro Morata started Chelsea’s first four Premier League games. Barring the opener against Huddersfield Town, the Spaniard was taken off in the second half and Giroud came in. Morata spent the entirety of Saturday’s match on the bench.

Giroud had a terrific match as he registered two assists. After the match, Eden Hazard stated that the Frenchman is the best target man in the world.

Maurizio Sarri has said that he hasn’t yet settled for a first-choice frontman and will rotate between Giroud and Morata.

Sarri said, “In the last two weeks I have seen four matches of Cardiff and four matches of PAOK Salonika and for me, I thought [on Friday] Giroud was more suitable for this match and Morata more suitable for the other.

I don’t know now who will be the striker of the future. I think both, because we have to play 60 matches.

For their characteristics, they are different. It depends on the kind of match. [Giroud] played very well without scoring, but very useful for his teammates, I think.

Chelsea next play their Europa League opener against PAOK at Thessaloniki on Thursday. Chelsea’s group also consists of Belarussian club BATE Borisov and Hungarian club MOL Vidi.
