Maurizio Sarri joined Chelsea last summer and the Italian has come under intense scrutiny in the interim.
He has played his typical style of football which he used to play back in Naples, Italy with SSC Napoli.
The Italian boss brought with him his trusted midfield general Jorginho to implement Sarri-ball. Chelsea in the last 7 months have produced moments of great magic, something unseen in West London before.
The club is used to playing football with a defensive mentality and a counter attack to hit the opponents. However, Sarri’s introduction at Stamford Bridge has seen the Blues hold the ball more, dictate play and try to work channels.
This u-turn in style of play has seen the players take time to adapt and from time to time deviate from Sarri’s mantra. Chelsea are not used to holding up the high back line and it has seen the club suffer from a lack of identity crisis in tough situations.
Former Chelsea player Hasselbaink has now chipped in on the Sarri conundrum saying that the Blues need to provide Sarri with patience and trust while he tries to deliver a new brand of football at West London.
