Rudiger insists Hazard will bring the best out of Higuain

Rudiger calls upon the fans to be patient with Gonzalo Higuain

Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger has insisted that the fans should remain patient with Gonzalo Higuain after the 31-year-old failed to get his name on the scoresheet on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

Higuain will probably be one of the first names on Maurizio Sarri’s team sheet when the Blues make the trip to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Chelsea have some season-defining fixtures coming up against some of the top teams after their trip to the south coast on Wednesday night, with the Blues set to face Man City (EPL and Carabao Cup), Man United (FA Cup), Malmo (Europa League) and Spurs (EPL) in the space of 17 days.

And Rudiger believes that someone like Hazard can turn out to be a massive influence on Higuain’s performances.

He said: “Everyone who understands football and knows Eden, you can make a profit out of him playing with him.

“It [playing without Hazard] is the same as Barcelona playing without [Lionel] Messi. For us it’s Hazard. He can make always the difference, as he showed against Tottenham last week.

“We have to be patient with Higuain. He’s new. Everything’s new. But he will be important for us and he will show his strength.

“First of all, if you see his record, you know he’s a goalscorer. He will do the same here. I’m confident about him.”

Meanwhile, Sarri has urged Higuain to adapt to the nature of the English game after the striker labelled the style of football prevalent in the Premier League as ” very aggressive”.
