Roman sanctions £100m for triple defensive swoop

Chelsea has got the ball rolling once again.

The Blues began their summer business early by wrapping up deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. However, since then talks have slowed down of sorts. The Havertz deal has stretched on for far too long and with no end in sight, Chelsea it would seem has turned their attention to fixing their defensive woes.

A shaky backline meant that Chelsea are ready to bring in new faces and now their owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned £100m for the transfers of Ben Chilwell, John Stones and Lewis Dunk. The trio is expected to cost in the region of 140m but Chelsea are expected to raise some funds of their own from the sales department by moving on Emerson and one of the three centre backs – Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen.

Chilwell is Chelsea’s number one target and is expected to cost the club around £80m. John Stones is a flop at City but does have good command of the ball and could be sold for a little over £30m while Lewis Dunk, the Brighton captain should come just under £30m and would be a good leadership addition at the back.
