Axel Disasi is increasingly in high demand in Italy; Roma has now joined AC Milan in their pursuit of the Chelsea defender. After a poor loan transfer at Aston Villa in 2024–2025, the 27-year-old Frenchman has been locked out of Enzo Maresca’s starting lineup.
Additionally, he lobbied for a return to Monaco last summer, which had a significant negative impact on his popularity in West London. In the summer of 2023, Disasi was acquired by Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino for £38.5 million (€45 million).
However, he hasn’t been able to establish himself at Stamford Bridge since then. The tall defender may now move on another loan, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
According to the Italian publication, Roma has been making steady progress today, and Milan has reportedly expressed serious interest. Along with offensive additions, the Giallorossi are looking for a cheap central defence.
AS Roma join AC Milan in Axel Disasi chase
Disasi began his senior career with Paris FC in 2015. His current deal with the Blues expires on June 30, 2029. But after just three league appearances, he continued to grow at Reims for four years before Monaco signed him in the summer of 2020.
The defender and Raheem Sterling have been entirely barred from Chelsea’s first-team operations. In contrast to the latter, the Frenchman is attracting a lot of attention, with teams like West Ham and Newcastle United considering him before January.
AS Roma is prepared to add the €45 million Chelsea misfit to the team in order to bolster their defence; thus, Disasi has another significant suitor from Italy. The Frenchman is a desirable target due to his ability to set up several defensive positions, but the Italian Capital heavyweights are only anticipated to make a loan bid.
Since Chelsea won’t be looking for long-term solutions to the undesired star, the possible bid may include a buyout option of some kind. Disasi’s chances of moving to Italy are more promising than ever, although at this point, he could have to decide between Milan and Roma.
