Rio Ferdinand Tells Lampard To Steal Arsenal Target Thomas Partey

Rio Ferdinand has suggested Chelsea to sign Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

Atletico midfielder Partey has been a long term target for Arsenal and football pundit Rio  Ferdinand suggests that Chelsea should try snapping him up before Arsenal does.

The reason for this he gives is that Chelsea is in need of a strong midfielder to pair well with the defence, now that the attacking area has been covered thanks to the likes of Timo Werner.

“I think a huge thing for them is to stop conceding goals,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“I think Frank would have looked at it last season and three of the back four that will be playing today are new players.

“He’ll have seen that, a lot of goals conceded and I think the most conceded in 22 years at the club. More importantly we reports today of Partey coming in in that central area.

Ferdinand further talks about how Lampard might not be fully satisfied with Jorginho – who is linked with a potential move to Arsenal.

“I don’t think he’s happy with the likes of [Mateo] Kovacic or Jorginho. You can see that because he’s chopping and changing in those positions.

“Getting someone like that in to protect the back four or five along with Kante goes a long way to nullifying the goals against.”

Should Chelsea go for Thomas Partey then? It does seem to make sense.
