Chelsea needs a natural No.9 in front of goal by this summer.

The Blues are currently 10th in the Premier League standings and has won only two of their last 14 games in all competitions.

Over £323m was spent on eight new signings this January but Chelsea are yet to invest in a No.9.

Their only striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been snubbed from the 25-man Champions League squad.

He is expected to depart this summer with Christopher Nkunku arriving from the Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Man United legend Rio Ferdinand feels that Chelsea immediately needs to address the No.9 position.

He said on BT Sport: “They haven’t got a No.9 in this team. They spent all that money in the last two transfer windows and didn’t get an out-and-out No.9. That’s the problem.

“Long term, I think he’ll go and get that. They’re doing everything up to that point really, really well. The way the team’s been able to pass the ball through the lines and get into those really good areas. But again, they got undone by a clinical bit of finishing which they didn’t have in their own team.”
