Reece James is much better defensively than Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Chelsea defender has been backed to be Southgate’s choice in the future over Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
James scored and assisted one goal on his return from injury against Burnley this weekend.
Both James and Alexander-Arnold are clear futures for the England National team but Gabby Agbonlahor believes James could get the nod ahead of the Liverpool right-back.
“I’d choose Reece James, only because he’s better defensively,” explained talkSPORT host Gabby Agbonlahor.
“If you say Trent Alexander-Arnold is a ten out of ten on the ball, Reece James is a nine out of ten so that’s enough that you need in that position that Reece James offers.
“Look at Reece James today, scored and assisted, he’s giving out assists and goals as well just like Trent Alexander-Arnold, but Reece James is a lot better defensively, he looks quicker as well.”
