Reece James could miss four game with latest injury

Thomas Tuchel claimed at a press conference that Reece James has picked up a muscle injury on his return to the team

According to rumours, James will be out for four games. Chelsea should be able to handle the next two games without him, as they face Norwich and then Newcastle.

Thomas Tuchel stated that the injury was not a return of the hamstring condition that kept him out for two months earlier this year. However, it remains a source of concern for the European champions so soon after he returned full health.

James scored his first goal of the season in a 4-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. Chelsea’s medical team had previously opted to limit his playing time, but the current injury appears to have put him out for good.

Chelsea will next travel to Lille in the Champions League before facing Middlesbrough in the FA Cup quarter finals next weekend.

There have been worse runs missed, but given how much Chelsea has missed him in his two months off, it’s a shame to lose him so quickly again.

The only good news is that Cesar Azpilicueta is back in training after missing a few of games due to injury. He can stand in for James, but he can’t replace him.
