According to reports, Chelsea is prepared to trade Enzo Fernandez for €90 million this summer due to Real Madrid’s strong transfer interest. Even though the Argentina international has established himself as a vital member of the team under Enzo Maresca this season, he has not lived up to the €121 million price tag since joining Stamford Bridge.
According to Mick Brown, a former chief scout for Man United and Blackburn who is still very well-connected in the game, the 24-year-old has become a surprise target for the Spanish powerhouses this summer, he exclusively told Football Insider.
Fernandez has donned the captain’s armband multiple times this season, but as Real Madrid steps up their interest before the next transfer window opens, an exit may be imminent this summer.
The 24-year-old’s incredible 2022 World Cup campaign sparked a lot of interest in Los Blancos, but they were unable to get him because Benfica agreed to sell him to Chelsea for a Premier League record transfer cost. According to Todo Fichajes, Carlo Ancelotti’s team has been monitoring Fernandez ever since and is prepared to sign him this summer.
Chelsea could accept ‘big offer’ for Enzo Fernandez
Although Fernandez is seen as an important component of Enzo Maresca’s future plans, the Blues may be persuaded to sell by a sizable offer. The World Cup champion has made 35 appearances so far this season, helping the Blues qualify for the Champions League with five goals and nine assists.
“There is nothing that surprises me at Chelsea,” Brown said to Football Insider. “This season, Fernandez has been a key member of their team and is a key component of Maresca’s long-term goals.
I don’t think it’s impossible that they would let him leave, though, if a significant offer were made for him. He has been being considered by Real Madrid. “Therefore, if they decide to pursue Fernandez, I believe Chelsea will consider the offer.”
Since they already have replacements under contract with the club, they will be tempted if the offer is substantial. As previously stated, it is typically quite tough for players to decline Real Madrid when they approach them.
