Christian Pulisic signed for the Blues from Borussia Dortmund in January. He was immediately loaned back to the German side before joining Chelsea this summer. Pulisic needs time to adapt, says Lampard.
The American winger joined the Blues for £54 million but is yet to score in six appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. Pulisic needs time to adapt, says Lampard.
Lampard said about Pulisic:
“Pulisic we forget is 21, because of the price tag.
“It is normal to have an adaptation period. He has shown some good moments this season and in preseason, but he must do it daily.”
“He needs time to adapt, but we support him on that,” Lampard said. “His time will come.
“A huge part of any manager’s job is to sit and work with the players — younger or older, but with younger players you want to pass on more knowledge and help them.
“Sometimes it is being tough. I try to do that as much as possible.”
Christian Pulisic has only started three of Chelsea’s first six league games this season. Lampard opted to leave him on the bench during their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the Bridge on Sunday.
Pulisic was seen as the successor to Eden Hazard at the start of the season. But he has failed to carve out a regular spot in the manager’s first XI early on in the campaign.
