Pulisic Compares His Dortmund Days To Chelsea

Christian Pulisic definitely likes it better at Chelsea than he did at Borussia Dortmund.

But why is that? As a 17-year-old, Pulisic had joined Dortmund – kickstarting his career. News of his excellent playing skills spread far and wide, in his own country – the US – and in Europe. However, his time at Dortmund wasn’t all rainbows and roses for him.

“In Dortmund, I almost felt like I wasn’t my full self there at times,” Pulisic told Philadelphia Union II.

“I was kind of letting the pressure got to me and I expected myself to perform at such a high level.

In 2019, when he joined Frank Lampard’s side, he had quite a dip in the first few months as well, having just transferred from Dortmund. However, as the months went, Pulisic slowly grew accustomed to the way Chelsea played and let himself get comfortable with the way he played, defining a style for himself.

“And that’s what I’ve been really happy with since I’ve been at Chelsea, I told myself, ‘Go play the way you know how to play, go dribble, take people on, and don’t be scared of anything!’

“In the end, it’s about me, my coaches and teammates, what anyone else says really doesn’t bother me anymore.”
