Chelsea fought a pretty lengthy battle to overturn their transfer ban.
However, for what? They never signed a player in January despite lifting the ban and ended up signing a new player days after the January window shut for next season. The player was Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech.
Many fans were indeed confused by the timing of the signing. However, Poyet has even questioned the club’s perspective on the signing.
“I think they got the quality of a player the fans will enjoy watching.”
“I’m just a little lost.”
“I didn’t understand why Chelsea, after all that went on in the summer, not being able to sign players.”
“They get to January with the possibility of signing players, they didn’t.”
“Then three days later, four days later, they announce they sign a player for next year. It’s not normal.”
Football has been suspended since March with the spread of the CoVID-19. The Dutch league has been stopped and ended due to the pandemic without another match.
This means the next time Ziyech plays it will be for Chelsea. As of June 11, he will become a Chelsea player. With the new season pushed back and the current season having a possibility of starting later next month, there are still uncertain laws about exactly when Ziyech can team up with Chelsea!
