Phil Neville reveals Lampard's biggest weakness at Chelsea

Phil Neville believes Frank Lampard needs to reinforce his midfield if they are to compete for the Premier League next season.

Frank Lampard had a decent debut season since his arrival in 2019 despite the fact he was unable to buy players in the previous trsnfer windows.

The Blues beat Leicester City 1-0 at King Power Stadium to go through the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they will be facing Manchester United.

Former Manchester United ace Phil Neville feels there is a lack of creativity in the midfield and Chelsea should look for a player like Christian Pulisic to play in the ‘Eden Hazard’ role.

‘Mason Mount is a really good player but probably he isn’t the type of creative player that makes the final pass,’ Neville told Premier League Productions.

‘Mateo Kovacic for me flatters to deceive sometimes. He’s good on the eye but does he play [that pass]?

‘I think it’s the one area where you say can they get Christian Pulisic more central? That’s the one I’d be thinking about. ‘If they’re going to win leagues you need some player that is going to be really special and that’s what Eden Hazard was for them.

‘Cesc Fabregas was for them too and I don’t think they’ve replaced Fabregas since he left. I think a no10 is a position – Manchester United have gone out and bought Bruno Fernandes – it’s a position where you need to buy the best.’

Chelsea are in interested in signing Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen who can fulfill their attacking midfield position.
