Jorginho’s introduction to the Premier League took England by storm.
The pass master as he was nicknamed, Jorginho pulled the strings in a Chelsea team which ran around scoring for fun in the early part of the season.
However, things have slowed down since and Chelsea have found it tough to get on the scoresheet of late. While most of the blame has gone to the lack of proper centre-forwards in the team, there has to be some blame which can be distributed around to Jorginho as well.
A new unwanted record has found its way to him; Jorginho has gone 1896 passes without making an assist. That kind of a number is mammoth record for a player who is supposed to be the playmaker for a major European team with attackers like Hazard and Willian in front him playing in an attacking philosophy.
With Fabregas set to depart Chelsea this month, this record could not have come at a worse time for Chelsea fans. They will surely want to see the Italian pass master improve on it. While there is no denying Jorginho’s ability to play Chelsea out of the back, it must be remembered that it is also his duty to play it through to the strikers on occasions.
