Osimhen was a potential target for Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea were heavily linked with Viktor Osimhen and they tried their best to get the striker at West London. However, the deal didn’t happen. Napoli have now excluded Osimhen from the squad for the 2024/25 season.
The Nigeria international failed to make a successful move to Chelsea on Friday. Despite a late offer from the club, Napoli were unable to finalize a deal before the transfer cutoff.
Saudi Pro League club, Al Ahli also tried to get him on board but they signed Brentford striker Ivan Toney instead. Conte has made it clear that he wants to move on from Osimhen.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that the relationship between Osimhen and Napoli is now broken. The Serie A striker will not feature for Napoli against Lecce on Saturday. Napoli have given the number nine jersey to newly signed Romelu Lukaku who will the replacement.
Osimhen was the one who scored 26 league goals in the 2022-23 season. He helped Napoli to secure their first title in 33 years.
