Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has heaped praise on new boss Frank Lampard, hailing him as the ‘perfect’ man for the job.
Lampard signed a three-year deal with the Blues, replacing Maurizio Sarri who joined Juventus after a solitary year at the Stamford Bridge.
The Englishman spent 13 years at Chelsea and has returned amidst a tough time for the club, who are facing a transfer ban at the moment.
Giroud, speaking to Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, said,
“I like his energy and desire to always improve and win,”
“We’ve been training very hard with high intensity.”
“I think he [Lampard] is the right person. He is basically a Chelsea legend,” added Giroud.”
“We all believe in his quality to improve the team and with the transfer ban it’s a good opportunity for the young players to show what they can do.”
“Now we’re excited to play the first league game.”
Chelsea are set to lock antlers with Manchester United in the opening game of the season on 11 August.
