The Brazilian winger Kenedy has extended his contract with Chelsea and signed a loan agreement with Flamengo in his native country Brasil. Flamengo is a classic club and the current reigning league champions in both Rio de Janeiro State Championship and the Brazilian Serie A.

Robert Kenedy Nunes do Nascimento, known as Kenedy has been in the Chelsea books since 2015/2016 season but has rarely dressed up in the blue shirt as he’s been the target of many loans since. Joining Flamengo will be his fifth club on loan since 2015 when he joined from Brazilian Top Club Fluminense for a fee of £8 million.

Kenedy has represented top flight clubs in both Spain and England such as Getafe, Granada, Newcastle and Watford and this loan spell is the first loan in which he is returning to Brazil.

Why Flamengo is the perfect fit for Kenedy

Flamengo is a power-house in Brazilian Serie A and won the Brazilian Serie A the past season. They have notable players such as the former Chelsea left-back Filipe Luìs, the solid and trustworthy goalkeeper Diego Alves and the once highly appraised wonderkid Gabriel Barbosa, known to some as Gabigol. They are competing every year in Copa Libertadores and only yesterday beat the Paraguayan Titans Club Olimpia with an aggregate of 9-2 to advance to the Semifinals of the Copa Libertadores.

The club resides in Rio De Janeiro and competes in the regional championship, which they also won the past year and according to ApostaCorreta they are sponsored by the popular betting company Betano, which also sponsors their rivals Atlético Mineiró.

What to Expect from Kenedy

Kenedy is held in high regard at Cobham and has recently signed a new 2 year contract with the blues. Despite being on the books since 15/16, Kenedy is only 25 years old and can become a promising utility player for Chelsea should they decide to keep him next year. He has only played 15 games for Chelsea but the gaffer believes in the promising winger enough to extend his contract again. Kenedy is not a National Team Player but dressing up for the best club in Brazil could earn him his first cap for the Seleção. Something that doesn’t seem unlikely however is that Flamengo might buy Kenedy at the end of the season as they have a clause in the contract which allows them to buy him for €7 million, add that to the loan fee of €3 million and it’s another great deal done by Marina Granovskaia.

New Things Chelsea

The Team has been busy ahead of the big game on Sunday against rivals Arsenal, with Romelu Lukaku signing for the Blues and Tammy Abraham leaving Chelsea for José Mourinho’s AS Roma. The Club is also expected to loan or sell Euro2020 winner Emerson Palmieri, who’s been rumoured to join Napoli, as current manager Luciano Spalletti has coached Emerson in the past.
