OFFICIAL: Chelsea announce signing of Jadon Sancho on season-long loan deal

Sky Sport Italia claims that Juventus and Chelsea have reached an agreement on a dry loan for defender Renato Veiga, who might arrive on Thursday for a total of €4.5 million. After losing Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal to torn anterior cruciate ligaments, the Bianconeri understood they needed at least one reinforcement for the back four; therefore, they have been quite busy in the trade market. At first, it was intended to make significant investments in seasoned players like Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo, but he has chosen to prolong his existing deal.

Instead, they looked at Chelsea and Renato Veiga, and it was estimated that a permanent sale would fetch about €20 million. But according to Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer analyst for Sky Sport Italia, Juventus has agreed to sign Renato Veiga on a dry loan through June with no chance of a permanent deal. Chelsea will pay the player’s wage and his agent’s commission; thus, Juventus will save money on those expenses even if the operation will cost about €4.5 million.

Chelsea star agrees January loan exit six months after joining club

Maresca just spoke last week and seemed oblivious to rumors that Veiga was leaving, but he did commend the 21-year-old for his growth since joining Chelsea. “All I can say is that we acquired him from Basel, and by playing a variety of positions and performing well, he was able to make his debut for the national team,” Maresca stated. He is playing for his country, so even if he isn’t playing his position, he can still perform well in it on the field.

“In this instance, we are extremely proud of a young player who is 21 years old who joined Chelsea and began playing four or five different positions, which has given him the opportunity to join his national team.” Veiga might be among a number of players that Chelsea offloads during the January transfer window; Italy is also showing interest in midfielder Cesare Casadei. According to sources, Lazio has already lodged a £11.5 million proposal to recruit the 22-year-old midfielder, who had a successful loan stint at Leicester City under Maresca, but has also struggled for minutes this season.
