Chelsea loan out Emerson Palmieri to Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

The 27-year old full-back has completed a loan move to Lyon on a season-long deal.

He has struggled for minutes at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Roma in 2018 and would now play for Lyon for the entire 2021/22 season.

Lyon has made the option to purchase him outright next summer.

He made 71 appearances for the Blues in his three-and-a-half years spell and are behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

“Olympique Lyonnais welcomes the arrival of Emerson, who will be the third player, defender and Italian international in the history of the club, after Fabio Grosso (2007-2009) and Mattia de Sciglio last season last season.”
