Chelsea and Antonio Rudiger haven’t spoken about a new contract since a while

Chelsea and their star defender Antonio Rudiger haven’t discussed a new deal in a long time. The defender is reported to be garnering attention from big teams like as Real Madrid, PSG, and fierce rivals Manchester United.

Since Thomas Tuchel came over as manager, the Blues have won a whole slew of trophies, and Antonio Rudiger has been an integral part of the team’s success. He has been at the core of the West Londoners’ defence and has helped them win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

As of present, the 28-year-old is paid £90,000 per week under his current deal. Despite being a crucial component in the backline under the German boss, he is one of the club’s lowest-paid senior players.

According to reports, the player rejected down a renewed contract at £140,000 and is looking for a salary in the range of £225,000 per week to sign a new term with the West Londoners.

With Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta’s contracts expiring at the end of the season, the Stamford Bridge team might be facing a defensive dilemma.

While Rudiger has asked a large pay hike, one might argue that his commanding presence at the back and regular performances on the field may just justify his request.
