Nicolas Jackson will return to Chelsea this summer after Bayern Munich decided against making his loan move permanent, but the striker may not stay at Stamford Bridge for long.
Nicolas Jackson Set for Chelsea Return as European Clubs Circle
The Senegal international joined the German giants last summer on a season-long loan worth £14.3million.
The deal included a £56.2million purchase obligation if Jackson made 40 appearances of at least 45 minutes.
However, the 24-year-old has only started five Bundesliga games all season, and Bayern will not trigger the clause.
Jackson’s time in Germany has been frustrating. He has scored just three league goals and recently found himself on the bench or left out of squads entirely.
With Harry Kane firmly established as Bayern’s first-choice striker, regular game time has been hard to come by.
Interest Growing Across Europe
Despite his struggles at Bayern, Jackson has not lost his appeal elsewhere. Several clubs from Spain, Italy, and the Premier League are monitoring his situation closely.
Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Manchester United all showed interest before his move to Germany, and they could revive that interest this summer. Juventus have also previously been linked with the forward.
Chelsea could demand around £56million for Jackson, the same fee Bayern rejected.
That price tag may prove challenging, but his Premier League experience—14 goals in his first season and 10 in his second—makes him an attractive option for clubs seeking proven top-flight quality.
Jackson’s return comes at a complicated time for Chelsea’s forward line.
New manager Liam Rosenior already has Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as striking options, with Emmanuel Emegha arriving from Strasbourg in the summer.
The Blues had actually tried to cancel Jackson’s Bayern move last summer when Delap suffered a hamstring injury, but the striker refused to return, pushing hard for the transfer to Germany. That history could complicate any potential reintegration.
However, with Enzo Maresca no longer at the club, Rosenior has shown willingness to offer players a fresh start. Jackson is reportedly open to considering all options, including staying at Chelsea.
For now, the forward remains focused on seeing out his loan spell with Bayern. But come summer, his phone is likely to ring regularly as clubs across Europe line up for a striker who has already proven he can score in the Premier League.
